Mango Tiger partners with Trutravels and The Cambodian Buddhist Association for Vulnerable Children to improve access to clean water by building wells for villages and families living just outside of Siem Reap.
The Mango Tiger family has always been interested in giving-back and impact projects, and since many members of our family live in Cambodia, we have the opportunity to participate in meaningful activities to support local communities there.
In December 2019, we joined each other at Bak Angrut Village in Siem Riep to help build wells. At the same time we shared the information with friends and family and on social media to help fundraising and raising awareness about the project.
We are all well aware of how essential clean water is, however, too many people in the world do not have access to that. It affects their health, their day-to-day life, and their future. 20% deaths of children under 5 in Cambodia are due to waterborne illnesses.
The project goal is not only to provide clean water wells, but also to inspect water wells regularly and replace and fix worn and broken parts. We support to ensure that villagers in the rural area of Siem Reap province have an adequate supply of fresh, safe and clean drinking water.
On the actual day, we lend our hand to dig and build an open hand well. Turns out it’s no easy task to dig a hole 8 – 10 meters deep under the sun in Siem Reap. But we did our best with good intentions in our hearts, and our completed well will supply water for 40 – 50 people. The donation from the fundraising we did hope to help even more than that.
Building clean water well can change the lives of many families and can also be a life-changing experience for you too. If you would like to get involved on a program like this or pledge your support, just get in touch with us.
